With more than 25 years’ experience as a Chief Financial Officer, Treasurer and Finance management Marshall has been involved in all levels of finance and accounting with several major U.S. Corporations. Mr. Erb’s experience includes finance manager of Sprint Communications, Western Regional Director of Finance and Accounting for XO Communications, Chief Financial Officer for Envirocare of Utah, Corporate Treasurer for EnergySolutions, headquartered in Salt Lake City, Utah, and currently as CFO of Veracity Networks.
He has successfully founded and executively led two successful start-up companies: EnergySolutions and XO Communications. As a founding member and Corporate Treasurer of EnergySolutions, he played an integral role in preparing the company to be listed as a publicly traded company on the New York Stock Exchange. In his time at EnergySolutions, Marshall successfully led the finance team in eight domestic and international acquisitions ($2.1 billion in revenue). His span of control included: managing the company’s relationship with Standard & Poor’s, Moody’s, Citibank, and investors; developing and managing the risk mitigation strategy; administering debt covenants ($900 million); leading the contracts and procurement organizations; developing and managing the strategy and protocols for leasing facilities throughout the U.S. and Europe (15 building leases). Marshall has experience as the lead senior-executive in developing the process and protocol for several corporate governance policies. He drafted the finance internal controls for SOX compliance requirements.
Marshall was appointed by the governor of Utah to serve on the board of trustee’s for Southern Utah University.
Founder and CRO
Having spent more than 20 years in the Telecom industry Drew Peterson’s career experience includes transitioning from the early days of long distance to the more modern era of the CLEC business model, and leading/guiding several start-up companies. During his telecom tenure Drew has honed the skills required to lead and manage emerging companies while achieving company goals and objectives. Shortly after beginning his career with Access Long Distance, Peterson quickly proved his leadership abilities. When McLeodUSA acquired Access Long Distance Drew received the assignment to lead the Western Region sales organization. In addition to these responsibilities, Drew was tasked with launching three new markets: Idaho, Montana, and Utah. Although garnering numerous Sales, Marketing, and Management awards while at McLeod, Drew’s most cherished accomplishment is consistently leading his team in achieving and exceeding objectives.
Led by natural entrepreneurial instincts, Drew became one of the founders of Veracity Communications. Under Drew’s leadership Veracity Communications became a CLEC, implemented Sonus Class 4, 5 and VoIP Switches, expanded their data network, and achieved year over year compound revenue growth, from 2002 – 2008, exceeding 500%. As Veracity Communications continued their exceptional growth they were approached by Broadweave Networks, a competitor, to combine entities and agreed to a merger thereby forming Veracity Networks. Led by Drew and his Executive Team, Veracity Networks continues to realize the synergies and exceptional growth of merging both companies. Under Drew’s leadership Veracity Networks has been awarded the best telecom provider 3 out of the last 4 years by “Best of State” and has been nominated nationally by the Stevie Awards the last two years as the best Telecommunications company for sales and service. Veracity Networks exceptional growth has also been recognized by “Mountain West 100” and “Utah fast 50” as the fastest growing companies 4 years in a row. Personally Drew has been recognized by Utah Business Magazine as one of the top 40 executives under 40 and one of the Top CEO’s in 2012.
Chief Technology Officer
As Veracity Networks Chief Technical Officer, Chris Modesitt has developed and deployed numerous technological and engineering innovations enhancing network performance, stability, and reliability. Chris’s Engineering and Information Technology background perpetuates Veracity to consistently improve the efficiency and utilization of our network, thereby providing solution-oriented benefits to our customers. As one of the Founders of Veracity, Mr. Modesitt’s engineering knowledge was requisite in Veracity receiving their CLEC status as well as designing and implementing many of the products Veracity now offers its customers, from legacy products (T1, DS3, DSL) to fiber optics-based offerings and advanced data features VPLS, MPLS, Advanced QOS and IPV6.
Mr. Modesitt’s leadership has proven crucial in the development of Veracity’s core infrastructure, network strategies and operating protocols. His consistent approach to grooming the network positions the Company for sustained customer growth. Chris began his telecom career in 2000, and has rapidly ascended over the last 15 years becoming instrumental in stationing Veracity at the top in technology deployment and customer facing solutions. From the early origins of implementing an 802.11b wireless network to building a dynamic fiber optic and copper wire medium, Chris’s organization continues to engineer and deliver state of the art telecommunication results.
VP of Operations
With more than 35+ years of experience in the telecommunications industry, Don brings extensive leadership as EVP of Operations here at Veracity Networks. His experience and expertise spans multiple industries including; fiber optic, voice switching, operator service, disaster recovery transport and customer premise equipment.
Prior to working at Veracity, Mr. Mortensen proudly served our country with a 6 year stint in the United States Air Force. Later Mr. Mortensen was the Regional Voice Operations Manager where he was key in leading and engineering over 12 different acquisitions at Tel America, the largest privately held telecommunications company at the time. Later he became the Director of Operations, which then led him to join Veracity’s team.
Mr. Mortensen’s extensive knowledge and leadership in voice switching service, from design to implementation, has become a crucial piece in Veracity’s success. His vital duties in fiber plant, network operations center, voice network operations and escalated services continue keep Veracity’s technology and processes progressive, ensuring our position as a telecom industry leader.
Darin joined Veracity’s team in January 2007 and has since has immersed himself in learning the unique industry of telecommunications. He successfully organizes the flow of financial information to be more timely and effective, allowing the Management to make more substantial and better-informed decisions. He is also consistently involved in analyzing Veracity’s services, as well as the revenues and costs tied to those services, to continuously improve the health of the company. Darin also assesses the financing necessary, negotiates, and manages this financing for the continued growth of Veracity.
Darin earned his Master’s Degree in Accounting from Brigham Young University in 2001 and obtained his CPA license in 2002. After graduation, Darin was employed by CBIZ and Mayer Hoffman McCann P.C., one of the top 10 accounting firms in the nation. During his five years there, he managed multiple teams on audits for many SEC and large, privately held companies based in Utah, both profit and not-for-profit. This opportunity provided him with valuable experience and insight in managing the finances, information, and other critical aspects of a company to ensure its success.
Christina Jackson, SHRM-SPC
VP of Human Resources
Ms. Jackson’s career in Human Resources covers a wide range of disciplines and assignments. She has worked in both the not for profit and for profit sectors and has experienced first hand the requirements to effectively protect the company as well as its employees. Christina’s knowledge and understanding of employee and company labor protection statutes, rules, and regulations provide great benefits for Veracity Networks when dealing with hiring and disciplining matters.
As a degreed and senior certified Human Development leader, Ms. Jackson has developed and implemented an Employee Handbook, drafted the hiring and discipline processes, oversaw the development of compliance and regulatory statutes as well as health and safety guidelines. Ms. Jacksons’ roles include: lead chair on policy and process committee, lead negotiator with benefit underwriters relative to employee welfare benefits, coaching and mentoring management on employee development and training, and maintaining employee records and managing the payroll process.
Christina serves on numerous philanthropic boards and committees associated with Veracity’s charitable initiative. Serving as a board member on the Bikes For Kids foundation Christina coordinated the effort to annually collect and donate 1,000 bikes to 1,000 underprivileged children. As an active member of her Community Ms. Jackson and her family provide a visible presence for Veracity Networks and our charitable endeavors.
Executive VP of Customer Service
Mike began his career on July 1st 1987 with Tel America Long Distance, at the time the nation’s largest privately held telecommunications company with over 400 employees in 5 states. Mike started in sales and moved on to become sales manager, GM, and eventually Vice President of Operations. Mike is now the Executive VP of Customer Relations for Veracity Networks, a locally owned telecom company, where he is also a part owner. Mike and his wife Tami are the parents of four Daughters with 8 grandkids. He loves the outdoors and traveling.
