A Quick Guide to FirstDigital SMS

In today’s connected world, your customers want to be able to reach you. But giving out your personal phone number isn’t always ideal. With FirstDigital’s VCaaS Communicator app, you can take your business life with you, while keeping your personal life separate.

FirstDigital Communicator—or VCaaS—lets you make phone calls, participate in video conferences, and chat your colleagues right from your computer or mobile phone. Now, VCaaS is even better than ever with FirstDigital SMS. SMS—or short messaging service—is another term for text messaging. If SMS is enabled on a FirstDigital user, they can send and receive text messages using their FirstDigital phone number.

What You’ll Need

In order to use SMS, you’ll need to have at least one user with the following:

  • A Platinum user license plus VCaaS
  • A FirstDigital phone number that supports SMS
  • An SMS licence
  • The FirstDigital Communicator app and a supported device

Where to download FirstDigital Communicator (VCaaS)

You can download Communicator from the following links:

  • Android
  • iOS
  • macOS
  • Windows

How to Use FirstDigital SMS

Now that you have an SMS user and the FirstDigital Communicator app installed on your device, it’s time to login. If you’re not sure what your login credentials are, please contact our Customer Service team at 801-379-3000.

Receiving messages

Once SMS is activated for the user, messages can be sent to their FirstDigital number. SMS messages are received in the VCaaS desktop application or the FirstDigital Communicator/Connect mobile app. Users can respond to messages in the application.

Creating a new SMS contact

A contact is required for sending new messages. You can save contacts as messages/calls come in, or you can create a new contact as needed. New contacts can be added by using the + icon in the top-right corner of the app.

Important: When creating a new contact, type the phone number followed by @veracitysms.com in the IM Address field. For example: 15551234567@veracitysms.com

Composing new messages

To start a new message from the mobile app, select the Contacts tab and select a contact. Tap the Chat button, type your message, and tap Send. On the desktop version of VCaaS, click the Contacts tab, use the Search Bar to search for a contact, then double-click the contact to start a new chat. Type your message and press Enter/Return.
